Accessibility
Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use this site — including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification or voice control. Last updated October 23, 2026.
Our commitment
Ives Construction, LLC is committed to making ives.construction accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We treat accessibility as part of building the site properly, not as something bolted on afterwards.
Conformance standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard most commonly referenced in United States accessibility practice, including under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
We consider this site to be substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Substantially conformant" means most of the site meets the standard, and we are actively working on any area that does not.
Accessibility features built into this site
The accessibility panel
Every page carries an accessibility button in the bottom-right corner. It opens a panel where you can adjust how the site displays. Your choices are saved in your own browser and applied automatically on your next visit. They are stored on your device and never sent to us.
- Text size — Normal, Large or Largest. Enlarges all text while keeping the layout intact.
- High contrast — strengthens text and border contrast and removes soft background tints.
- Underline links — underlines every link in the page content, so links are not identified by colour alone.
- Readable font — switches to a wider, more open typeface with increased letter and word spacing, which some readers with dyslexia find easier.
- Reduce motion — turns off fade and movement effects across the site.
- Reset to default — clears all of the above.
Built into the pages themselves
- A "Skip to main content" link as the first item on every page, visible as soon as it receives keyboard focus.
- Semantic HTML landmarks — header, navigation, main and footer — so assistive technology can jump between regions.
- A logical heading structure on every page, with one
h1and no skipped levels. - Full keyboard operability. Every link, button, form field, menu, slider and the accessibility panel can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order.
- A clearly visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Text alternatives on meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Form fields with persistent visible labels, required fields identified in text as well as colour, and errors announced through a live region as well as shown inline next to the field.
- Before-and-after comparison sliders implemented as native range inputs, so they can be operated with arrow keys and are announced by screen readers.
- Colour contrast meeting or exceeding the WCAG AA minimum of 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface components.
- Automatic respect for your operating system's "reduce motion" setting, with no action needed on your part.
- Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide, and remains usable when zoomed to 200%.
- Pages that work without JavaScript — all content remains readable if scripts fail or are blocked.
- Accurate page titles, a declared page language, and descriptive link text rather than "click here".
How we test
We check accessibility using a combination of methods:
- Manual keyboard-only navigation through every page and interactive element.
- Automated checks for contrast, alternative text, landmarks, labels and heading order.
- Testing with browser zoom to 200% and at narrow viewport widths.
- Review of the rendered markup for valid, semantic structure.
We re-test when we make substantial changes to the site, and we review the site as a whole periodically.
Known limitations
We would rather tell you where the gaps are than claim there are none.
- Photography of completed work. Project photographs carry descriptive alternative text, but a photograph cannot fully convey construction quality to someone who cannot see it. If you would like a described walk-through of any project shown on this site, contact us and we will provide one.
- Third-party fonts. Typefaces are delivered by an external font service. If that service is blocked or unavailable, the site falls back to system fonts. Layout and readability are preserved, but appearance will differ.
- Documents. Any PDF or document we send you — a proposal, scope or certificate — may not meet the same standard as this website. Tell us what format works for you and we will provide the content that way.
Tell us about a barrier
If you encounter anything on this site you cannot use, we want to hear about it. Your report helps us fix the problem for everyone.

If you cannot use the site
You never need this website to do business with us. Call (216) 555-0147 or email estimating@ives.construction and a person will take your enquiry, answer questions about our services and send you information in whatever format suits you — large print, plain text, or read aloud over the phone.
Accessibility in the work we build
Accessibility is also part of our construction scope. On applicable projects we build to the requirements of the Ohio Building Code, the accessibility provisions of the Fair Housing Act and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, including accessible routes, unit entries, clearances, grab-bar blocking, reach ranges and accessible common areas. If you own a property with accessibility deficiencies to correct, that is work we do — get in touch.
